First of all, I have removed a couple of items from the main website menu, particularly a few items that will require considerable development work before they are ready for the public. There are still a few items on the main menu which do not have content available on the sub-pages, but we are getting closer and closer to being ready for our official January 1st website release.

The second item is our domain names... In addition to the "http://www.libertycaucus.net" domain name, our main domain name of "http://www.ca.rlc.org" is now working. We will be using both domain names as we try to determine which one is more memorable and drives more traffic to the website.
Comments:
Hi Doug,

http://ca.rlc.org/ has a Google Page Rank of 4 so that is my preference for a domain name.

http://www.rlcca.org/ still needs to be setup. I envision using a 301 Redirect to point this site
at whichever name we choose.

I believe search engines prefer sites with only one domain. They may downgrade sites with the same content, or may also recognize them as mirrors.

Regarding, "now working". It's been working all along. However due to routing issues, somes pieces of the internet could not reach that server. The DNS server is now on a new subnet to workaround that problem.

Doug,

Can you please remove or obscure our email addresses
in the comments? I prefer they not be picked up by web spiders.

Thanks,
Steve

Google hasn't spidered the website at all under the "LibertyCaucus.Net" domain name, since there currently aren't any external links to that address.

The http://www.ca.rlc.org domain name is linked from the national RLC web page, and Google is already spidering the site daily.

A redirect would definitely be the best way to handle the newest domain, http://www.rlcca.org

Hi Doug,

So far, so good. Looks great. Like the colors, and the clean look.

But every time I click on a page I get an annoying question from Microsoft if I want to get "Microflashplayer." Doesn't happen with other sites.

Anyway, I got a nice little blurb about your new site on the Home Page of http://www.mainstreamlibertarian.com

Thank you for the kind words Eric... And thanks for posting links to this website from your own.

The reason why the site is asking about "Microflashplayer" is a little hidden Java program that checks to see the capabilities of people accessing the website.

The purpose of this is so that I can gauge what capabilities that site visitors have, so that when future additions to the website are being considered we will know what the capabilities of the viewers will be.

For example, I can see what percentage of website visitors at this time have:

Flash capability (96%)
Java (96%)
Quicktime (91%)
Realaudio (38%)
PDF (82%)

And I can also see what screen resolutions they have for viewing the website...

As a feature, it allows me to know what website upgrades might have compatibility issues so that I can plan in advance to minimize the problems. For example, the numbers above would tell me not to use Real Audio, since most website visitors don't use it.

If the function creates problems of its own, I can disable it. However it is working well enough for now, and we will learn more as website traffic increases.
